Earning Money Blogging
Blogging has become a method of writing and earning an income without writing a book, being employed by a magazine or newspaper, or peddling oneself in the trenches. However, no one ever said it was going to be easy.
I began blogging about two years ago. It took me a few months to understand what Google Adsense was and how to read the charts. Truly I wanted to earn some residual cash but that was not my main motive for writing. I enjoy clicking away on my keyboard and sharing what I have learned. The added benefit of making money is just frosting on the cake - as they say.
I have additionally written and published a book that I am extremely proud of. They say everyone has a book in them. It is called Hitches and Ditches on the Erie Canal by Hannah Stuart. I have several others in the works. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
My passion is and will continue to be education. I do, however, consider blogging a form of teaching.
For those of you who are new to blogging perhaps I can be of some benefit and save you some time.
Google Adsense
As soon as you begin publishing, go to Google Adsense and sign up. Be aware that it takes some time to understand what you are looking at. Be patient with yourself It is confusing for everyone at first. The more you visit the clearer it will become to you. Also, don't spend too much time trying to figure out the formula for how you get paid with Google Adsense. It would take a mathematician to figure that one out. Just work on writing quality material and learning where to place your ads on your site to maximize your profits. My philosophy is that I can't change what their formula is but I do have control over improving my writing and the format in which it is presented.
Later in my writing I will give examples of the pages in Google Adsense and will do my best to explain each page and what I believe to be of value to bloggers. This will be a work in progress, which should help new bloggers as I do not wish to overwhelm anyone.
